What is a User Group
User Groups
are people banding together to help each other use computers.
There are thousands of User Groups all over the world, covering every type
of computer, application, operating system, and hardware platform.
Most UG's in the United States are unincorporated associations or nonprofit
corporations, organized for mutual benefit without any one person receiving
financial benefits.
Most UG's hold meetings, typically monthly, often open to the public, where
they answer each others' technical questions, and see computer products demonstrated.
We usually meet the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of each month at the Richardson Civic
Center.
Many groups publish newsletters, typically monthly, with notices, news, reviews,
and advice. The ACD newsletter is the Apple Gram.
Many User Groups host web pages and local BBSs,
and web pages like the one you are looking at now.
Many groups provide community service, training seminars, flea markets and
local computer tradeshows like our monthly meetings.
